Questions & Answers
This section provides answers about how BETOFF works: from anonymous tracking of your time without gambling to discipline mechanisms and data privacy.
What is BETOFF?
BETOFF is a specialized self-control service for individuals overcoming gambling addiction. The project was created as a supportive tool to strengthen discipline and track real progress on the journey to a gambling-free life.
Who is this service for?
The service is designed for people who have made a conscious decision to stop gambling and want to track their progress. It is also useful for those who wish to transparently demonstrate their results to people they trust.
Is BETOFF free to use?
Yes. All features of the service, including tracking, progress cards, and the notification system, are available completely free of charge.
How is my data privacy ensured?
Your data is confidential. Progress cards are not indexed by search engines (Google, Bing, etc.). Your card can only be viewed by anyone to whom you have personally provided a secret ID or a direct link.
How do I start using the service?
Register and confirm your email. Log in to your dashboard, go to the "Self-Control" section, and click "Start Tracking". After that, you can set up your progress card and complete regular check-ins.
What is "Self-Control" mode?
Self-Control mode is your personal digital commitment to abstain from gambling. The system maintains a continuous real-time count and requires regular check-ins to verify your "gambling-free" status.
How does the Self-Control timer work?
Once activated, the system records the start time. The timer shows the duration of your current gambling-free period. If abstinence is interrupted, tracking is stopped using the "Stop Tracking" button (password confirmation required to prevent accidental actions).
Why are check-ins necessary?
A check-in is a short, regular action that verifies your active status. It helps maintain discipline and keeps your recovery journey transparent and recorded within the system.
What is the check-in schedule?
When the mode is active, your dashboard shows the time until your next check-in.
Once the timer expires, a 24-hour check-in window opens. We send email notifications at the start and 3 hours before the window closes. If you don't check in manually, the system uses an auto-confirmation.
How do auto-confirmations work?
Auto-confirmation is a backup resource in case you cannot log in on time. 3 auto-confirmations are available in each phase. If the limit is reached and a check-in is missed, your tracking will stop automatically.
What are the progress phases?
BETOFF uses a three-tier system for gradual adaptation:
• Phase A (Days 1–90): Daily check-ins.
• Phase B (Days 91–180): Check-ins twice a week.
• Phase C (After Day 180): Check-ins once a week.
What is a Progress Card?
It is a private page that visualizes your achievements: time without gambling, current phase, and discipline statistics. It is your tool for self-motivation and rebuilding trust with loved ones.
How do I create my card?
In your dashboard under "My Card", click "Create Card". After filling in the optional details, the system will generate a unique secret ID for access.
What is the purpose of the card?
The card allows you to conveniently track progress in one place and, if necessary, demonstrate it to trusted individuals. This adds transparency and evidence to your commitment.
Who can see my card?
Only those to whom you provide the ID or direct link. The page is fully protected from search engine indexing, ensuring your data remains private.
What is the Event History for?
The event history (log) records all key moments: start and stop of the timer, and completed check-ins. This ensures full data transparency and allows you to see the chronology of your success.
Where can I find an overview of BETOFF services?
A detailed overview of all features and benefits is available on the BETOFF homepage.
